NEW MAC Veluxe Brow Liner Crayon Sourcils. MAC Eye Brows Styler Crayon Pencil Sourcils Fling.003 oz New In Box.
I was beyond thrilled when I learned MAC was launching a collection specially and specifically for brows. If you’ve been around this blog for long, you probably know me and my brow-session. Needless to say, when MAC brings out something like this, I’m hopelessly hook-line-sinker.
I had every intention of getting the two new items from the collection, the Veluxe Brow pencil and the Gel Brow Creme. However, upon trying and swatching both, I felt like I’m better off restocking on my MAC Lingering than the Veluxe Pencil because the latter was too pigmented and quite hard to control (it’s creamy and powdery). I still haven’t made up my mind about it, I’m still waiting to be swayed (eep!).
- Our beloved Veluxe Brow Liner is now enhanced with a strengthened tip and five new shades. Highly pigmented formula gives precise application, while the rich, powdery texture gives a matte, velvety payoff. Features a high degree of temperature stability, making it long-wearing and ideal for warmer climates. Comes with a spoolie at one end for a perfectly groomed, finished look.

- Flawlessly groom, define and enhance your eye brows with tints, brow gels, and brow kits for a natural-looking finish that matches any hair colour.

So anyway, I settled on the Gel Brow Creme because it’s a medium I haven’t explored before and was quite excited to try.
The second most important thing about the Gel Brow Creme, aside from the gel creme itself) is the brush to apply it with. MAC included the 208 brush in the collection to use with it but I was feeling kuripot and I think I’ll try my brow brushes first and see how they fare. I found a synthetic angled brow brush to do the job quite well.
But of course, the most important thing is the product itself. To be honest, it took me a couple of tries before finally getting satisfied with the result. The problem is that it istoo smooth (it glides right across the brows so a steady hand is a must), too pigmented (mistakes are quite obvious) and it sets (so you have to be quick and accurate). These aren’t necessarily bad, I’m sure these are the very things I’d like for any product to be. It was just a matter of getting used to.
Finally, I got it. What I do is use a pencil to draw the shape and fill it in with the gel! There’s no need to run through the same spot twice coz it’s pigmented enough to cover and block out the area.
Here I used my Tony Moly Lovely Eyebrow Pencil to draw an outline of my eyebrow shape, and then using the cheapy-but-goody Marionnaud dual ended eyebrow brush, filled in the area with the Gel Brow Creme. A little goes a long way, so be mindful of the amount of product you get in your brush.
I heart this brow product, it gives me sharp and polished brows all day! Aside from filling in my brows completely, this lasts ridiculously long, coats the brow hair effectively enough not to require a mascara and would not budge even if I perspire or oil up. That’s amazing by any brow standards! If you’re in for some serious brow definition, GET THIS. However, this requires a bit too much effort (for me, anyway) and it looks like you did take that aforementioned effort, so I use this for special, dressy and/or formal situations. But I’m still experimenting as to how to use this casually just cause it’s too fun to use! I’ll keep you posted on that. xx
