How to access ISU technology resources from off-campus
Most Iowa State University resources are easily accessible with just an internet connection, but may require some setup. We're here to help you understand what you need to access ISU technology resources off-campus. Find more information about working securely when at a remote location and get guidance on conducting research during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Remote Working Checklist
- Contact your supervisor for authorization prior to working from home. Reference the Employee FAQ for the latest updates and resources available to faculty, staff and students.
- Download and install any necessary software. Reach out to your local IT if you have questions or need assistance. Learn about what is available by searching the IT Knowledge Base.
- Test making and receiving calls from your remote location. Do you need a headset? Can you use your mobile phone to make and receive calls? Test your home webcam, if you plan to use one. A webcam is not required to participate in online videoconference meetings.
- Practice using Webex Meetings to conduct team meetings and encourage your team members to do the same.
- Back up your files. Migrate files to CyBox for remote access.
- If you plan to use your personal computer to work remotely, make sure you know how to access your email or other collaboration tools.
- If you need to access services that require the Iowa State Virtual Private Network (VPN), download and install the Cisco AnyConnect software. Consult your unit IT staff to determine whether your application requires VPN access.
